Dear Prof. Porat,<\/p>\n

In light of the current security situation in the country and the repeated complaints raised by students, we request your immediate involvement in addressing the challenges Arab students face on campus. The ongoing circumstances have created divisions among students based on national affiliation, highlighting the urgent need for proactive measures to ensure the safety and inclusivity of all students.<\/p>\n

We respectfully urge the university to take the following steps to protect and support students during these challenging times:<\/p>\n

  1. Safety Measures:<\/strong>\n
      \n
    • Provide comprehensive protection and ensure the safety of students, both on campus and in student housing facilities.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n
    • Dedicated Hotline:<\/strong>\n
        \n
      • Establish a university-run hotline to address students’ inquiries and concerns. This hotline should operate in coordination with campus security and guard services to provide swift assistance.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n
      • Enhanced Security Patrols:<\/strong>\n
          \n
        • Coordinate with organized police patrols in the campus vicinity, particularly during evening hours, to maintain safety and prevent incidents.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n
        • Guidance for Faculty:<\/strong>\n
            \n
          • Issue a university-wide message to professors, emphasizing the sensitivity of the current situation. Encourage understanding and inclusiveness toward Arab and Jewish students while considering their difficulties.<\/li>\n
          • Facilitate leniency in academic requirements, such as paper and exam submission deadlines, and prioritize students\u2019 mental health during this period.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n
          • Addressing Complaints:<\/strong>\n
              \n
            • Take all student complaints seriously and handle each case with extreme sensitivity and caution, especially those involving incitement or violent incidents.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

              The university plays a critical role in fostering a safe, inclusive, and supportive environment for all students.
